As part of our new Gear Up to VoteSafe initiative, Open Source Medical Supplies has just released a collection of best practices, extracted from multiple guiding agencies, to create a series of interactive and informative safety guides for poll managers, poll workers, and voters.

These Voter Safety Guides support election centers and poll workers by providing concise guidance on how to conduct safer in-person voting, while also implementing strategies to protect voters as they carry out their civic responsibility. These free resources are designed to help election officials and voters actively participate in the democratic process while responsibly addressing the realities of COVID-19 risk.

A detailed poll manager guide includes information on crowd management, cleaning and disinfecting, ventilation, precautions for poll workers, and PPE guidance, as well as tips for preparing for various situations and scenarios. The guide for poll workers offers information on the symptoms and spread of COVID-19, election worker safety, cleaning and disinfecting guidance, good hygiene practices, and use of social distancing and PPE. These resources also feature information for voters, including voting options, tips for safer in-person voting, and a printable set of quick tips to take with you to the polls. Check out these new resources online and share them with your friends and colleagues so we can help keep voters and volunteers safe at the polls!

In addition to compiling this guide, Open Source Medical Supplies, a project of RESOLVE, informs and connects local makers, manufacturers, organizers, institutions, and the public so local communities can produce their own supplies and use them to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and other crises. Gear Up to VoteSafe is a non-partisan initiative launched by RESOLVE, VoteSafe, and Mission for Masks to support safe voting during the pandemic by getting personal protective equipment (PPE) into the hands of election officials, poll workers, and volunteers.

This year we could see record levels of voter turnout across the nation – regardless of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is critically important to keep voters and volunteers as safe as possible. We are still raising funds to produce and ship our Gear Up to VoteSafe PPE kits to polling sites before Election Day. For just $8, you can donate a PPE Kit to a poll worker. Click here to donate whatever you can to our national campaign or to help provide PPE kits to specific regions.

Whether you make a donation to provide PPE to poll workers or share the Safe Voting Guides, your actions can make a real difference in supporting a safer vote. Thank you!
