Today, organizations and communities around the world are attending to basic human needs responding to COVID-19. While humanitarian crises are increasing in number, complexity, and severity due to climate change and other causes, billions of dollars are lost every year due to inefficiencies in response. There is too often a mismatch between the needed emergency response equipment, supplies, and material and what arrives.
In 2019, prior to COVID-19, over US$160 billion was spent by governmental and non-governmental organizations on humanitarian assistance worldwide, including both development and emergency aid. Spending has been increasing at a rate of 8% annually. Of this, emergency aid accounted for approximately 17%, over US$27 billion. Even with this spending, we fell short by an estimated US$11 billion, leaving critical needs unmet.
A more efficient response – one that matches relief material to needs – will help close this gap. We need a reliable way to find and match the best, most affordable solutions to needs. We can do this with algorithms that sift through the endless amounts of data and misinformation to enable the most relevant, suitable, cost-efficient solutions to be implemented. If we make every dollar count, we can save more lives.
Truvi transforms disaster response, preparedness and resiliency by using an AI-based system that provides actionable, predictive, evidence-based matching of needs to solutions in real-time, enabling decision-makers to focus their efforts, time, and resources on impact.
Tailored to the local context and need, Truvi offers users a concise, simplified, and targeted summary of viable, relevant solutions to match their needs, real time availability, and technical and logistical support.
In moments of need, Truvi streamlines the process of matching needs to resources, leading each user to the best solutions without having to review hundreds of reports and product pages or filter information.
Currently in a pilot phase, Truvi is seeking donors, investors, and partners. To learn more about Truvi, donate, provide in-kind support, or join us, please contact Nir Tenenbaum or Stephen D'Esposito.
There are too many mismatches between what is needed in emergency response and what is sent. AI can help solve this problem, especially as emergencies become more complex and protracted.
