CAPAZ is a partnership between RESOLVE and the Alliance for Responsible Mining.
Initial support for the Market Entry Standard development and pilot in Colombia is provided by the European Partnership for Responsible Minerals.
On February 19, 2014, in Medellin, RESOLVE convened the first meeting of CAPAZ with support from the Embassy of Canada, the Canadian Institute for Extractive Industries and Development (CIIED), Equilibria, Estrategia y Desarrollo, Frédéric Massé (Universidad Externado), and Marcello Veiga (University of British Columbia). This multi-stakeholder consultation explored opportunities to apply the Solutions for Hope model in Colombia. Participants considered voluntary programs that would result in traceable Colombian gold production in accordance with OECD due diligence requirements. Voluntary pilot programs support in-region systems development and encourage communication and partnership between leading upstream, mid-stream, and downstream actors.
The meeting statement, summarizing key themes and outcomes, is available in English and in Espanol.
